Satellite Imagery

The University of Delaware, College of Earth, Ocean, and Environment maintains a satellite receiving station (UD SRS) for real-time feeds of satellite imagery for the Delaware region. DEMAC is a partner in the UD SRS and works on maintaining the reliability of the equipment, data production, imagery interpretation, promotion and education of the products.

The station consists of an X-Band receiver for reception of the MODIS family of satellites which allows for the study of sea-surface temperature, chlorophyll concentrations, land surface temperatures, and vegetation patterns. An L-band receiver allows for the reception of NOAA, MetOP, and Fung-yen satellites to study atmospheric conditions, land surface temperatures, and sea surface temperatures.

More information on the UD SRS and data retrieval can be found at http://udsrs.udel.edu/.
